Background & Training
Erika Wurz, M.S., CCC-SLP
Founder | Speech-Language Pathologist
Erika Wurz, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a board-certified, licensed speech-language pathologist in California and New York. She earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
With over 15 years of clinical experience, Erika’s work spans hospital-based pediatric care, outpatient rehabilitation, school systems, and private practice, giving her a broad, nuanced understanding of child and adolescent development across settings. She began her career in New York’s hospital networks with a focus on pediatrics and acute care before transitioning into school-based therapy, where she designed and led social-communication programs for school-aged students.
Across her career, Erika has developed a highly specialized focus in supporting children, teens, and young adults with Level 1 Autism and ADHD. This population, often referred to in research as the “twice-misunderstood” or “hidden” neurodivergent group, frequently presents with subtle but significant challenges in social language, executive functioning, cognitive flexibility, and emotional regulation. Because their strengths can mask their needs, they often go under-identified or unsupported in traditional school and clinical systems. Erika is deeply committed to ensuring these individuals receive the evidence-based intervention, advocacy, and relational scaffolding needed to thrive and meet their full potential.
With advanced training in autism spectrum disorders, pragmatic language interventions, adolescent social-emotional development, and orofacial myology, Erika specializes in the intersection of communication, social-emotional learning, and functional outcomes. Her therapeutic approach integrates cutting-edge, research-supported methodologies with a relationship-centered, neurodiversity-affirming philosophy. Therapy is individualized, impactful, and designed to support not only the client, but the entire family system and multidisciplinary team.
In addition to her clinical practice, Erika has collaborated with Speech Sisters, a global platform dedicated to empowering families with research-driven language strategies.
